Hope someone can help me with this one. We had Progress V9.1 running quite happily for some time on a Windows 2000 system (service pack 2). Part of that implementaion included the use of Procontrol. Due to a system failure we had to re-install both the (same) operating system and (same) Progress.
Now when we try to run Procontrol there is a problem. The Start button works OK, the cogs start rolling and there is a confirmation message. However if you then try to start a particular database within the Procontrol setting or if you press the Procontrol Stop button you get the message "Error 53 communicating with Proservice". We have completely re-installed (including formatting the disk) and still the situation persists.
Windows services 9.1C shows log on as local system acount and the service can be both started and stopped via this facility. Anyone have an answer ? Thanks for any assistance.
