Database Size and Performance

Hello,

I'm new to Progress and am just looking for some clarification. We have 9.1E running on Windows 2003 Server Enterprise and have a database that is about 2.5GB that has started running reports slowly over the past month. My question is whether it's OK for a single storage area to be over 2.5GB and whether adding additional storage areas will increase performance.

Thanks,

Scott

Size, in and of itself, is not particularly important.

Unless your database is badly organized ;) Or just not organized at all.

And 2.5GB is pretty small.

A thoughtful reorganization of your database would almost certainly make a world of difference. For starters you might want to read this:

Surprising Benefits of Storage Areas

Thanks Tom, I appreciate the response. I had seen some other posts about a 2GB limit for a storage area but from reading the Progress documentation I see that isn't an issue with the 91E version. I'll look at some other metrics.
