Database migration

Hi everybody. I never have solved the last problem I posted - but still working on it. I am wearing a different hat today. We run Progress 91D with Vantage 6.1. We have purchased a new server. We plan to have the old server up and running while the installation of the new server is completed. I am hoping for some feedback as to how I should go about installing Progress and Vantage on the new server. Here is my plan:

* Fresh install of Progress and Vantage (plus patches and updates)
* Create empty database with the ".st" file
* Copy the database from the old server to the newly created empty database with PROCOPY

I would appreciate some feedback on how to accomplish this.

Thank you for you time,

So long as the operating systems and version of Progress are the same your plan should work.

But 9.1D is ancient. Is there some reason that you don't want to upgrade? Even if Epicor/Vantage is requiring you to stick with 9.1 you should at least go to 9.1E04 (which is the very last release of 9.x and which even now is several years old...)

You also have a great opportunity to reorganize the database which could be a great benefit from a performance and maintenance perspective.
