blinking line cursor vs blinking block cursor

I have a V9 GUI window with many fill-in fields and I find it difficult to see the cursor when these fillins are blank because the cursor is a thin vertical blinking line. Is there a way to change this cursor to a blinking block cursor?

I don't have a solution for you, but I think you could do something like that by playing with the Windows API.

However it would be against good Windows UI design "standards" and it might confuse your users since the blinking line is always used in Windows when editing in "insert" mode and the block is used when in "overwrite" mode.
