Background Utility

Has anyone experienced problems with their background queue getting stuck
or not running on a random bases. Every once in awhile our background
queue gets stuck on Run or just never moves to the next day for the daily
process. It seems to happen every couple of weeks. We are running on NT
4.0 and all I have to do is restart the reports and utilities and then it
works again. Any ideas?

If there is a transaction screen open and waiting for data input, our
background process that automatically posts transactions to the DB will
pause and wait for the data. If the data is not entered, then the process
will timeout and shut down. Sometimes it will just hang and not continue.
We have trained our employees to shut down the transaction screens when they
won't be entering any data for a while. In our case, this only applies to
Data Collection.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did not think of open transaction screens.
However I do know that I always turn off the queues before shutting down
the databases. I will check for open transaction screens.
