In general:
The various flavors of statelessness scale better.
The flavors of statefulness are, at first blush, easier to program. But actually they're easier to program thoughtlessly and they consume vast resources. Not the least of which is dollars for licenses. Which can be seen by implementing any of several famous partner applications.
