Application access with Terminal Services Client

I have set up a remote user that logs onto the server using terminal services. On their desktop is an icon to start the application. When they start the application, a Progress window opens up with several error messages, all the same:
The PUT-KEY-VALUE failed(4454).
The application starts OK, but this Window with the errors remains on the screen until the user exits the application.
This only happens when the application contains SmartObjects. Running a simple Progress procedure does not cause this Window with error messages to appear.
The SmartObjects seem to want to write something to the registry.
Any ideas how to solve this problem?

Does this remote user has access to the system registry (put-key-value) is a progress instruction to write something in the system registry.
