HELP!
It's almost the end of Jan. and we purchased laser forms to print our
1099's. Now we are being told that laser 1099's are not supported. Has
anyone found a work around for this? We don't have a dot matrix printer on
site, nor do we want to purchase one just for this task. Can anyone give me
some suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

This would be a perfect place to use a product such as optio, jetforms or
other such tool. In fact, they probably already have this one covered.

Something similar happened to me. I ordered laser checks for 4 companies,
and then discovered that they were not supported by QAD. But somewhere on
the knowledge works, I found an entry that said that "not supported" meant
"not included in MFG/PRO". It took me only one day to modify the printing
program in order to force every check on a different page, instead of two in
the same page. The printing routine was clearly separated from the rest of
the code, and very straightforward.

Maybe it is time for you to modify the 1099 report. It may not be that hard.

Hope this helps,

Armando Franco.

As implementing an output management package may not be on your list of
things to do this week... You can also set up a printer defintion and mess
around with the PCL codes to force the number of lines per page to be
whatever the number of lines per page of the 1099 form is. You can find
instructions for how to do this on the Solution Publisher if you search
under laser checks, since this is essentially the same problem.

One thing to look out for, though, is that setting the lines per page in PCL
to 42 (that's what the AP checks are, if I remember correctly) for some
reason forces HP printers to automatically select executive letter size
paper - which is only 7.5 inches wide. You may have to compress your font
size to adjust for this. Just a warning.

Good luck.
