We had similar problems here and ODBC always crashed as well :(
What we done was run CSV extracts every night from progress then used DTS to import the extracts. This has been working fine for well over a year.
I always use
INSERT into Table
SELECT * from table2
or
INSERT TableDes ( a, b, c)
SELECT a, b, sum(c)
from TableSrc
Where f = 'City'
group by a, b
The trick I do is build a workable select statement then place a INSERT at the top of it.
I all depends on your firewall. Some firewalls don't allow any traffic between DMZ and Trusted. You may well have to setup routing as well and have al local address on your DMZ that routes (NATS) to trusted network.
Exposing your live db to your DMZ means that your risking exposing your DB...
