It would be my guess that the Aculaser is generating Postscript output (file suffix ".ps"). I suspect that when you installed your Adobe product (e.g. Adobe Acrobat full version) that it registered the ".ps" file type.
I do not think you would really want to open a Postscript file with Notepad.
Cdata
It looks like to me that you your CDATA tag is not functioning because it is not properly formatted.
A CDATA section starts with "<![CDATA[" and ends with "]]>"
For example:
<![CDATA[1996 RETURN OF THE JEDI EPISODE SIX&]]>

I would prescribe "sharpening the saw" as advocated by Stephen Covey (Seven Habits) as the first step in facing a mid-life crisis.

Adobe Acrobat
I would recommend using Adobe Acrobat (full version) to create a PDF form that contains blank fields that are uniquely identified.
I would then use Progress to generate an FDF text file that contains the name of the blank PDF form, and also the field names and desired values...
