A set of recordings suitable for download to your iPhone can be found in in the Podcasts section Series 101 takes you through the fundamentals of rule modeling with an example we refer to as "skydiver" 101-1 is a powerpoint presentation that describes the business problem that will be modeled in Studio from scratch in 101-2 A discussion of the three parts of a rule model - Vocabulary, Rules and Test cases An introduction to the rules that will be modeled in 101-2 101-2 shows all the steps in building a rule model live in Studio (nothing is pre-built) Creation of the vocabulary Defining the rules in English Modeling the rules in decision table format Analyzing the rules for ambiguity and incompleteness Identifying and fixing the ambiguities and incompleteness in the original rules Testing the rules to prove the results are correct 101-3 shows what happens when things change: New data elements are added to the vocabulary to support new rules New business Entities are added to the rule model (Polices and Beneficiaries are added) Collection operators are used to perform calculations over repeating groups 101-4 shows how repartitioning large rulesheets into smaller ones can resolve incompleteness problems An insurance rule model with five rules is found to have 19.5 million missing rules By partitioning the rulesheet into three rulesheets we arrive at an equivalent rule model with a total of 5 rules and no incompleteness After viewing these you may wish to try it yourself by downloading the Studio software.
