VM Ware and OpenEdge

we have a customer who has recently upgrade to OpenEdge and also change their server to VM Ware which seems to be making things run slow, has anyone come across this issue at all?

Any virtualization will have some necessary performance penalty, but done right, I gather it can be small. If it is large, then chances are there is something sub optimum about the setup. There is a session or two on this at PUG Challenge Americas.

A lot of times "VM Gone Wrong" is a result of "One Size Fits All" thinking where the perpetrator has had great success virtualizing appliances like DHCP servers, Active Directory, DNS, etc, etc and then tries to use the same model for a database server.

Similar thinking is often seen with storage.
