I've started to look at an alternative way of producing high quality PDF documents for printing. Currently I an using "PDF Include" and it works.
My company is doing a big push into Asia and I need to be a print letters and reports in Chinese, Malay etc. The PDF include cannot handle double bite characters i.e. Unicode. But I have come up with a solution using WebSpeed and Prince XML.
Using WebSpeed I can dynamically create letters and reports in chinese and display on screen (using Adobe reader). Then using Prince XML I can convert the xHtml document into a PDF and maintain all the extended characters.
The downside to Prince XML is the price tag: $3800 USD. The alternative solution to Prince XML was wkhtml2pdf but it's not robust enough.
I asked Progress tech support on what the official answer in create Unicode PDF document from OpenEdge and they said to use primoPDF that was not a solution to the problem I had.
