Using ODBC to update a Progress db

Is there anyone out there who uses ODBC on a large scale (several hundred users or more) to update a database?

In my experience ODBC is used almost exclusively to support reporting tools. I don't know of anyone who uses it more than occasionally and accidentally to update their Progress database. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who does though.

Yes I've seen in the past, projects who try to do this but with "very poor" performances
because he try to use the standard SQL in place to read the Progress SQL documentation
and to use the SELECT ... WITH NO-LOCK , etc. Progress specific options,
or SELECT * in place to use SELECT custNum Name City.

Now all these projects, I've seen, in the past are migtated to AppServer connect
(Direct or via ProxyGen) or the use of Web-Services.
