Upgrading Progress 9.1E ProxyGen

We run Progress version 9.1E including AppServer. We have Microsoft .Net web services that access the database via AppServer. The database runs on an HP/UX box. In Progress 9.1E, ProxyGen is a Java class inside prowin.jar and runs via executable wjview.exe from Microsoft. ProxyGen is entirely tied to MS Java. We are NOT interested in updating the Progress database at this time. However, our development staff will be running Windows 7. We would like to upgrade ProxyGen on our Windows PCs. We would like it to generate DLL with the .Net 4.0 compiler. I understand the newer versions of ProxyGen are not written in Java. I also understand that AppServer OE10+ will successfully access a Progress 9.1E database. Can someone tell me what we minimally need to replace the current 9.1E ProxyGen? Do we have to replace all of AppServer? Will Progress Open Client OE11 ProxyGen work with AppServer 9.1E on the unix box?

Depending on the bitness of Windows 7 you need to be at least on 10.1c SP02 for ProxyGen to work (64Bit). Since OE10 ProxyGen is a .NET application and therefore you will need the .NET framework installed too. Regarding OE10 vs. V9 AppServer: As far as I know Progress did not change much in the AppServer protocol itself - from that point of view it _MIGHT_ work using a proxy generated with ProxyGen 10.1cSP02 with the Progress V9 AppServer. But then again, Progress V9 is Stone Age software, dating back to the late '90s of the last century, therefore I don't understand why somebody would want to run something like that on Windows 7.
