Vanson Bourne (an independent marketing research firm) recently conducted a study around rapid application development and PaaS technologies. The spring 2014 survey of 700 IT decision makers in mid-sized organizations from around the world shows a soaring demand for PaaS from organizations looking for faster development and deployment cycles. A best-in-class PaaS offers options that allow greater developer control and agility as well as enhanced productivity from faster development and deployment cycles from less coding.
Results Are In!
The Vanson Bourne survey reveals 10 key findings including:
1) 93% - Overall development of new applications improved with PaaS
2) 95% – Overall deployment of new applications improved with PaaS
3) 85% – Are under pressure to reduce new application development and deployment time
4) 48% – Are already using PaaS to develop and deploy new applications
5) 54% – Reduced timescales using PaaS
6) 51% – Reduced costs for development with PaaS
7) 42% – Improved ability to continuously monitor, test and develop
8) 47% – Increased scalability and capacity for innovation
9) 69% – Anticipate that their organizations will be “mobile first” within a year
(compared with 20% of those without PaaS)
10) 77% – Plan to invest in PaaS in 2014, with an average spend of more than $250K
