Systems Analyst

Job Summary:
The Systems Analyst provides technical expertise to the district through the development, design, maintenance and improvement of information systems that address the needs of the district for accurate and timely student record information and other related data. The design and development supported by the Systems Analyst reflect the district’s and customer’s needs such as the development or improvement of database modules, detection of potential problems and the of design of solutions as problems occur, maintenance of existing databases and enhancements of the district’s student records systems. The Systems Analyst will research and review packaged software and determine the feasibility and practicality of available computing solutions.

JOB FUNCTIONS:
1 Translate requirements and needs as defined by users into logical, economical and practical systems design and analysis to be integrated into district’s student record system.
2 Develop accurate and efficient programs to interface with existing programs.
3 Thoroughly review system design and coding to verify it meets customer requirements and district guidelines.
4 Participate in the testing or programming and development of other systems analysts’ development projects prior to introduction into production.
5 Assure the accurate and timely completion of systems development and programming projects within estimated parameters.
6 Complete and maintain documentation on all design, development, and enhancements based upon district documentation standards to ensure operator and user instructions are accurate and complete.
7 Establish priority and communicate when re-prioritizing workload based upon competing demands.
8 Actively participate in team projects.
9 Interact with co-workers, administration, district internal and external customers in positive, supportive and cooperative ways.
10 Perform other duties as assigned.

PREPARATION, TRAINING, EDCUATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science is required.
2. Five years experience in programming and system analysis preferred.



3. Working knowledge of relational database architecture, 4GL are required.
4. Working knowledge of PROGRESS preferred.
5. Experience working with VAX/VMS, UNIX, and Windows operating systems is preferred.
6. Working knowledge of MS Access, Visual Basic, HTML, and Java desirable.
7. Experience working in customer service orientated environment with the demonstrated ability to relate well and work cooperatively with internal and external customers preferred.
8. Experience developing in, TCP/IP, Novell environment desirable.
9. Knowledge of application development in a client-server environment and deployment of applications on a variety of operating system platforms is desirable.
10. The ability to manage and effectively prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively under pressure. Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
11. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
12. Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals to problemsolve and apply corrective actions.
13. Ability to quickly learn new skills and participate in ongoing training.
14. Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
