SYSTEM ERROR: Memory violation. (49)

Hello,

Progress Version 9.1d on Linux OS (8 GB RAM,8 CPUs).

We frequently get the errors below in log file.

SYSTEM ERROR: Memory violation. (49)
** Save file named core for analysis by Progress Software Corporation. (439).

The database is up & running.

Although I checked ProKB, but not of much help.
Does it pose any danger to the database.

Obviously 9.1D is ancient, unsupported and ought to be upgraded.

But error 49 is a client error. It results in the session crashing and does not harm the db. There are many possible causes for the error. You would probably have to look at the core file to narrow it down.
