Skip menus to run 1 program

Hi,

We're 8.5G (H in the next couple of months) on HPUX 11.20, HP 9000 K250.

We want a certain individual to have access to the inventry browse icbr007.r
(3.17) only. I have tried to substitute this program for mfmenu.r in a
custom PROPATH, but mf1a.r is passing parameters that I have had no luck
guessing.

Is there a way to do this (Apart from massive security setup. We currently
leave most reports and inquiries open) ? Can anyone at QAD give me the
parameters so that I can insert something between mf1a.r and icbr007.r? Any
suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA

Jamie,

Give that individual a group that nobody has (e.g 3.17 or whatever) in user
maintenance. Then in menu password maintenance only assign that group to
3.17

that's all.

Jamie,

Is this a person who can only access this, or is this the only person who
can access this? The answers are different, and since the second is much
easier, I'll answer the first.

You can set up this person to belong to a unique group (joeblow) and set up
every menu (1-36) to restrict access to that group (!joeblow, *). Then
place this browse on a unique menu (in addition to where it already is, say
menu 75). Joe Blow can access menu 75 (since you didn't prevent him from
accessing it), but he can't access anything else.

Minimal setup, but if you plan on doing this for a number of people, it can
get very unwieldy.

Note that with NetUI in 9.0, you can set up an HTML page with the programs
(in this case, one browse) that you want to allow someone to access. That
would allow you to set up the page, give this person access to the one
item, and not have to change anyone else. There's still a security hole
there, however; the ability to run other programs from within that program.

Good luck.

Hi Jamie,

Find a menu area that he/she has access to say "Items" menu 1
selection 3,7,11 are unused.

Go to menu system maint. (36.7.4) and setup icbr007.p for one of these
blank menus
Example you want to use 1.3
In 36.7.4
menu 1
selection 3
give it whatever title you want
program to execute is icbr007.p
(note) you can setup a nickname here for quick access say "item"
Then from any menu in MFGPRO you can type in item and it will run this
program.

Personal recommendation -

8.5H is functional stable, 8.6E will be functionally stable in July of this
year. Go to 9.0 and you can eventually try implementing NET UI. (Functional
stable means any problems report on a functional stable product will not
get fixed on that version. They will get fixed on 9.0 (latest baseline
available to customers) and 9.1 (development baseline). There may be
exceptions to this rule, but, this is the standard policy.

Good Luck,
