Sending sms

I am planning to develop an application for sending notification SMS to users mobile.Any one having hands on it,plz share. I have no idea where to start with.Is this possible for desktop applications.I have done the same in PHP but that was in web.

Dude this is simple. Just use an activeX (ocx).
If U google there are lots available that U can incorporate.
