Reserve Partial Qtty from one Lot

Hi,

MFG/PRO 8.6C
PROGRESS 8.2B
WINDOWS NT 4.0

One of our customers has made a request that he wants to hold/reserve
partial quantity from single Lot.

For instance, If a Lot, Lot-001 has a quantity of 1000 and I want to reserve
100 for it, so that no sales or inventory transaction takes place, How can
this be handled in Mfg/PRO.

Ajaz,

Consider transferring the partial quantity to another location and give it
an inventory status code which prevents sales or inventory transactions.

You could also do a transfer with lot/serial change within the same
location, but instead of changing the lot number, change the reference to
RESERVE (or something like that). Then go into Inventory Detail
Maintenance and change the inventory status code to prevent the
transactions.

This effectively reserves the material for you. When you want to ship it,
transfer it back.

Hello,

When entering sales order, you could use single line order detail and
put Lot/Serial adn Qty Allocated there. Alternatively, you could use
Sales Order manual allocation, in 8.5g this can be handled in 7.12.1

this is what you could do.

Create a new location and give it an inventory status code which prevents any transactions.
Then transfer to the new location, without changing the lot number.
When this lot is required, you could transfer it back
