We are struggling over a procedural issue in Syteline 4.00.02.
All of our items are standard costed. Frequently, a new item master is
added and a job needs to be released to the floor immediately after the
current router is written. In SYMIX 3.0, either the person entering the
item, entered a standard cost on the item master when it was added or
accounting would catch it up on the Roll Current to Standard within a couple
of weeks. The job could be released whether it had a standard cost or not.
In Syteline, you can't release the job until the current router is rolled to
standard, and that requires "Mgr. - Inventory" permissions. I don't want to
give that permission to the people who write routers, or the people who
release jobs. It opens up way too much. How do others get around this
issue? Is there something I'm missing?
