In preparation for Dreamforce 2015, Progress DataDirect teamed up with the local community for a night of fun, fashion and charity at Fashionforce 2015.

Dreamforce is big and confusing enough already. You don’t want to stress out about what you’re wearing on top of just trying to navigate the halls.

Progress, in conjunction with the Raleigh Salesforce User Group, NC Datapalooza and other sponsors, organized Fashionforce 2015, the first ever developer fashion show in Research Triangle Park, NC. The event, which took place on August 20 at the Research Triangle Park HQ, gave our own Progress® DataDirect® data evangelist, Sumit Sarkar, and others an opportunity to connect with the local Salesforce community to promote our participation in Dreamforce 2015 in both the Cloud Expo and the DevZone, and support some great causes in the area, including:

Technology Trendsetters

The hashtag #ILookLikeAnEngineer has gone viral over social media challenging stereotypes of what engineers look like. In that spirit, we put together an event that not only showcases the diversity of developers and their unique styles, but also highlights how, in no small way, geeks are the drivers of many of today’s fashion trends. And while we predict that most business professionals in the Cloud Expo will stick with a business casual dress code, the Developer Zone will give you an opportunity to relax a bit with some “geek-chic” basics.

Walking the Technology Catwalk

Fashionforce 2015 featured Salesforce and other developers walking the runway wearing popular “geek” gear like hoodies and tees from North Carolina-based Oak City Collective and American Giant, as well as tech wearables and accessories including messenger bags, Apple Watches, UP and Google Glass. We even had our models show off attire they could wear for the gala or networking event at the big show from local menswear shop Ticknor’s.

Some of the techies rocking the runway were:

Jerred Miklowcic, Idaliz Baez, Jordan Beam

Rob Callabro, Lu Ji, Dan Huynh

Danh Huynh, Brody Messmer, Ruhi Gandhi

Idaliz Baez, Lu Ji, Lauren Jordan

Look Good at Dreamforce 2015

Overall, Fashionforce was a huge success and provided an awesome opportunity to connect with the local developer community, nonprofits and fashion journalists. Even if you missed the show, you don’t need to miss out. We posted a ton of photos from the show on the Fashionforce 2015 Facebook page.

We want to see what you’re wearing at Dreamforce, too! Make sure to visit us at our booth in Moscone West, number 837, where we’ll be rolling out the red carpet for our awesome line of Progress® DataDirect® connectors. We’re also at the DevZone so look for us there too!
