We answer your questions about low-code, no-code application development. Watch our webinar and learn how to design low-code, responsive apps with Rollbase.

Rollbase is a rapid application development platform that enables business users to build powerful SaaS business apps. You have complete control over your app development while we handle the rest.

In our latest webinar, "Design Low-Code, Responsive Apps with Rollbase," I personally had the opportunity of answering some of your questions about the new UI in Rollbase, automatic responsive design and reporting tools. You can watch the recording of the full webinar here or just watch below.

Beneath the video, you can check out my answers to the Q&A.

Q: I’m a Telerik customer who has been using the Telerik controls. Are the Progress products starting to use these controls?

A: Yes. Rollbase 4.0 has been built on Kendo UI and the full Kendo UI professional set of widgets are available for any customization work in both UI and portals.

We have a sample app showing how to use Pivot grid, for example. Please ping us if interested we can send it to you.

Q: What smartphone operating systems are and are not supported?

A: Android and iOS—on the low end we are testing with Samsung S5 (360x640 resolution). For smartphones we recommend using modern vertical blueprint and not traditional blueprint.

Q: How can we use Rollbase with our existing databases, e.g. MySQL?

A: We can connect to external databases and create objects pointing to tables. With the 4.2 release you can connect to any database using JDBC. The details about 4.2 features have recently been published, and you can check them out here. Please follow this documentation link for more details.

Q: Will we be able to import CSV/Excel data through the UI? I have a customer that needs to update product pricing yearly, so they would need to import the pricing information.

A: Yes. You can import the data from CSV/Excel. Also, you can create objected definition along with importing the data. More details are available here.

Q: Can you take an app created through Rollbase into another source repository/IDE?

A: Rollbase apps can be exported and imported within Rollbase. The exported file format is XML with complete metadata information. But it doesn’t generate source code which can be used in another IDE.
