Do you want the best in marketing automation AND the best in data preparation? Integrate Paxata and Eloqua with DataDirect Cloud.

Oracle Eloqua enables marketers to plan and execute campaigns while delivering a personalized customer experience for their prospects. Paxata is an enterprise-grade solution built for interactive, self-service data preparation at scale. Integrate them in this step-by-step tutorial with DataDirect Cloud!

Step-by-Step

  1. Signup for a ProgressID/login to DataDirect Cloud by starting here and clicking "Get Started": https://www.progress.com/cloud-data-integration
  2. Once you have a ProgressID, log in to DataDirect Cloud:

  3. Create a new DataSource by choosing Data Sources / +New Data Source

  4. Choose Eloqua as the source and add your Eloqua connection information (User, Password, Company). Test connect to confirm a successful connection and click Save:

  5. Next, log in to Paxata. Once logged in, create a DataSet within your Library by clicking on Library and +Add from a database:
(You will use this data later when creating your Project.)

  6. Add the DataDirect Cloud JDBC connection information for the DataSource you created in Step #3 and click ‘Next’:
    jdbc:datadirect:ddcloud:database=Eloqua
(Note: Database=the Data Source Name you created in Step #3, and the user and password are your DataDirect Cloud credentials—not your Eloqua credentials.)

  7. Test your connection by issuing/previewing a SQL Query, then click Finish in order to complete your new DataSet:

  8. Next, create a new Project that uses your new DataSet by choosing Projects and +add:

  9. Add a Project Name and click Save and Open. Select your DataSet, which was created in steps 5 & 6, as a base for the new Project:

    Choose your DataSet:

    Preview of DataSet within Project:

Once the DataSet is in the Project, it is initially in Preview mode in order to review and confirm it is the correct DataSet. Hit Save to commit the DataSet to the Project.

  10. At this point you can add Filters to your DataSet.
For example: hover over a column in order to change all text to become uppercase or lowercase, or convert text characters into numeric. You can also separate a single column into multiple columns, rename column headings and more. Or you can use DataSet Operations to change the entire DataSet (pattern highlighting—duplicate records, duplicate values, remove white spaces, etc.)

The above is a text filter to only show Custom TableNames.

  11. Once you have your desired DataSet, publish the new ‘AnswerSet’ to Hive as a clean DataSet ready for reliable analytics.

  12. Once published, connect to the DataSet via a Hive JDBC Driver with the provided connection information:
