Progress Explorer (NEWBIE)

Hello,

we've setup our databases and a Unix machine and starten the Adminserver.
Now when we try to connect to the databases with our Progress Explorer (on Win2k client) we do the following:
1. Right-click, New...
2. The pop-up window appears asking us a logical name for the db
3. On the next screen we have to fill in the path + filename of the database but here is the problem...

Immediately when we enter a drive followed by a colon (C:\), the "OK"-button dissables itself? So what do we need to do here?

Please help me with this, thanx in advance.

Sorry - I didn't quite understand but are you saying that you database is on UNIX? If so there is no c:\. try "/" instead.

eg

/data/mydb/sports.db

Database is on UNIX, but we want to control it from a Windows 2000 client. So we do this by adding a database in our Progress Explorer tool under Management Console of Windows.
Here the problem occurs...

do I have to use the network name of the Unix server?

example:

//pgs0001/dbs/live/odisy

something like this?

You can control by windows but all the directories etc must be as they are on UNIX. Just ignore the fact that the GUI tool is on Windows and pretend its running locally and you should be right.

Ok, I didn't know you had to fill in the path as if you were on the Unix machine...
It's working now,

Thanx!
