Veredus is working with an established company seeking a Progree DBA with the following skills for a PERMANENT opportunity:

Senior Technical Support Database Analyst on our Level 3 Development Support Team. The Level 3 Technical Support Database Analyst is an integral part of the Research & Development team.

Responsibilities:

This position’s primary responsibility will be to provide Level 3 support to Level 2 technicians, as well as end user customers, acting on behalf of the Systems Engineering and Development teams. The primary goal of this position is to identify, document, and resolve problems associated with the performance and maintenance of the Progress database within the Intergy software application and work with systems engineers and software developers to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.

The secondary goal of this position is to provide Level 3 support for our Practice Analytics product which interfaces with the Intergy database.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Troubleshooting for database / server performance issues escalated from various support groups within the Sage organization.
• Backup / Recovery of databases including point in time recovery.
• Installation of Progress database both 9.1D and Open Edge.
• Database reorganizations to optimize performance.
• Maintain Database Administration Technical Documents.
• Provide after hours on call production support.
• Respond to inquiries or concerns regarding our products or services via incoming telephone calls, written correspondence or email correspondence.
• Document product defects for submission to the software development team, and track resolution of product defects and/or system performance problems.
• Produce metrics based reporting for reported database problems and environmental concerns.
• Assist with the deployment of database and performance related solutions.
• Become an Intergy database expert and keep abreast of changes to the product as it is developed.

Required Skills:

• 5 years Progress Database Administration experience
• BS / BA in Computer Science or related field.
• Understanding of Windows and AIX based systems.
• Lead and work constructively with others.
• Provide clear and concise documentation.
• Understanding of Windows and UNIX scripting.
• Experience providing Level 2 or 3 technical support involving database maintenance and performance tuning, on a site-by-site basis for the Intergy software application customers.
• Experience troubleshooting networking issues and network communications issues is required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and customer support skills, as well as a high degree of personal energy is required.
• Database knowledge, query development, and Crystal Reports experience is very helpful.
• Flexibility in adjusting to fast-paced environment with shifting workflows with multiple priorities is required.
