Progress explorer does not support environment variables for Database Server. Progress explorer supports environment variables for AppServers, WebSpeed, NameServers. Example use case: Need database server to run in a time zone different than the OS time zone. The TZ Environment variable must be set for the database server. Workaround: Do not use progress explorer to start the database server. The database server must be started with a script in order TZ to be set. This introduces inconvenience for database administrators. The database administrator has to support 3rd party software to execute the script as a service or as a task in order to keep it running after logoff. The database administrator cannot get any of the existing and future benefits implemented in progress explorer. (See ProKB Article Number 000089694.) Progress Tech Support confirmed this progress explorer limitation exists in all current OE versions (up to 11.7). Case – 00445927.
