progetstack writes the protrace file to the start-in location of the process. If the OS user who started the process doesn't have OS write permission to the start-in location the protrace file isn't generated. There is good reason to not grant write permission to the start-in directory for everyday users with all the encrypting viruses out there. It would be very beneficial to have the ability to redirect the protrace file to another directory or to the sessions temporary directory as the user must have OS write permission to that folder. The usefulness of the progetstack is greatly limited due to where the protrace file is written and would be much more powerful if the file location could be changed. Progress KB - Is it possible to change the progetstack output directory to a common directory? already has asked for this functionality. Hopefully the change is an easy one
