I believe that you are correct that protrace is not impacted by -T. -t dies not impact visibility of protrace files. Yes, with -t you need to purge orphan temp files from time to time. A simple find -mtime command run from cron will take care of that. The diagnostic benefit of knowing what is causing your should be well worth the extra work of cleaning up manually.
