Odd. I get a mix of both results. On Centos 6.9, bash 4.1.2(2), OE 11.6.0, 11.6.3.017, and 11.7.3, the value of $TMPDIR is preserved. On RHEL 6.3, bash 4.1.2(1), OE 10.2B, 11.3.2, 11.4, 11.6.3, $TMPDIR is unknown. On SLES 11.1, bash 3.2.51(1), OE 11.6.3, $TMPDIR is unknown. On Centos 6.6, bash 4.1.2(1), OE 11.6.3, $TMPDIR is unknown. It appears there is no difference in behaviour between pro and _progres. The only reference I find to TMPDIR in the installation manual is under the -l parameter for the proinst silent install.
