Of course there is a way to set every progress client or agent to use the same -d setting. In your OpenEdge install directory you will find a startup.pf file. Every OpenEdge client or agent references this file. In it you will probably find the -d set to MDY. Change it to -d YMD and everything run from this install will use that by default. HTH, Roy
