I believe this is by design, see the workaround in knowledgebase.progress.com/.../JSDO-catalog-generated-with-characters-that-are-invalid-for-JavaScript . In a way I believe this makes sense, because as the name of the attribute implies the SERiALIZE-NAME is used when serializing the temp-table to JSON which is then passed on to the client.
