For example, what will happen now after the error 1124? Database will crash. DBA will not have time to solve the error and will just start the database. A bit later some of the sessions will try to read the same block again. Database will crash again, then again. But if a block will be marked as corrupted then only some users will be unable to do their jobs - tens from thousands.
