It has been my experience that no matter what programming language i was using, i had to write everything at least three times. my first attempt was no good because i did not understand the problem. my second attempt was no good because i did not understand the solution. my third attempt was, sometimes, adequate. while it might have been correct, it could still benefit from improvement. then again, when looking at my code years later, i am rarely impressed.
