Concerning the active record pattern etc in the advanced ooabl pdf maybe (only had a short look) ROM - Introduction can inspire for practical solutions. Links are provided to articles (even from Fowler) that state some problems. Erik Meijer (again: this is a "widely recognized" great computerscientist who btw in one of his presentations calls the design patterns book crap
