I opened a SupportLink case asking why trying to access a third-party web service with ABL sockets and the HttpClient class was failing. After Progress developers looked at the case, they determined that this specific web service requires client side support ssl authentication (i.e. client side certificate support). They explained that this functionality is supported when using PASOE and when calling a Web Service from a SOAP ABL client, but not vanilla ABL sockets. My support rep requested that I make a post here requesting that client side authentication be enabled for vanilla ABL sockets.
