Just a reminder that we do offer the OpenEdge Developers Kit (ED) Classroom Edition at no cost. This is the full-featured Progress Developer Studio (PDS) for OpenEdge product, but limited to development and test but not for production use. While that does not fully address this Idea, it may be useful in situations where a developer is learning the ABL programming language or wants to explore the capabilities of the ABL.
