Progress 9 and Tru64 Unix

We are running Progress 9.1B on a Compaq GS80 with Tru64 Unix 5.1. We have ported our third-party Database over to this and find we are having horrendous performance problems with more than 70 users logged on. Compaq, Progress and the third party supplier are mystified at the moment. Has any one got any ideas?

Hi.

Have you been through the database tuning & performance stuff in the Progress database admin guide ?

Performance depends on a large number of factors, machine configuration (kernel & disk), Progress db setup and server parameters, client connection parameters and efficient programming.

I would suggest starting with the machine configuration and disk layout if this hasn't already been done. The Progress manuals specify what kernel parameters need to be set and how to calculate what to use.

Beyond that you need to look at what settings are being used on your server then work from there.

Hope this helps,
Andrew Fong
