The role of Programmer/Analyst will research, develop, and implement
solutions to business needs using technologies that provide Enterprise
Application Integration, database connectivity, security, and web
services. The incumbent will also be responsible for the coding, analysis,
design, implementation and maintenance of applications with heavier
emphasis on coding over analysis work.

The position will work closely with stakeholders to assist in the design,
documentation and optimization of business processes. In addition to
programming responsibilities, the position will include report creation,
front-line user support, application training, and maintenance of
development / test / production environments.

Responsibilities:
* Analyse user requirements and/or design specifications from the
Business Systems Analyst to deliver optimal programme code. Test
developed applications. Make recommendations to optimise design
and business processes.
* Using a "best of breed" and a "standards" based philosophy,
provide technology solutions for business applications. Work
within the I.T. strategy e.g. web centric architecture,
service-oriented architecture, n-tiering.
* Create management reporting systems.
* Work with technical stakeholders to prepare and maintain technical
documentation that includes database structure, server and user
access rights.
* Works with stakeholders to resolve problems with software and
responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
* Collaborate with the programming Team Lead and DBA to assess the
software costing requirements (includes licensing & development).
Further, to evaluate and make recommendations as to the impact
to existing systems and infrastructure.
* Assist the DBA & Team Lead in technical and infrastructure analysis,
on the database architecture.

Qualifications:
* University degree in Computer Science preferred and 3-5 years
working with business systems.
* Ability to work well in a team environment and can also work
independently. Must be detail oriented.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with
stakeholders and end users. Some working knowledge and / or
familiar with concepts of object oriented language, Uniform
Modeling language, 4 GL, standard query language, N-Tier
concepts, web-based technologies and database concepts.
* Applications / technologies within the Teknion environment.
* Required knowledge - Progress Ver 9.x 4GL application development
environment (GUI & CHUI)
* Desirable knowledge - Progress web speed & web client; J2EE suite,
JavaScript, HTML; IBM Websphere, ODBC, JDBC, JMS, general
messaging/EAI Structure, portal desktops.
* Need to have worked in Unix, Linux, and Windows environment.
