Hey ppl,
Problem Description:
Admin Server starts, NameServer autostarts up ok but when we try to bring up the appservers they stay in status "STARTING" because they can't/don't register with the NS.
Setup:
We have been running a progress v8 character system and v9.1b GUI system
for some time. the hardware that we have been using is Compaq servers
(x86 hardware) running Solaris 8. With it looking like Sun will no
longer be producing x86 versions of their Operating System, we have
decided to move our Database Operating systems to Redhat Linux 7.2.
The problems that we are having are on starting the appserver for the
first time or any time for that matter. I have tried this on 3 different
servers/machines running redhat 7.2 with the same problems all times. I
am using Sun's JRE version 1.3.1 as cetified on the Progress Knowledge
Base - kbase 21937, and the latest 9.1c linux patch off progresses web
site.
So the problem occours after install on trying to start appserver
(happens every time).
The user root is used to start the adminserver
we are running Linux Redhat 7.2
and I can reproduce this problem when ever i want, ie just try and run
an appserver on redhat 7.2
Any help greatly appriciated.
TIA
Jamez
