Preventing sale of products to wrong customers

Hi everybody!!

We are running MFG/Pro 86E on Progress and Unix.

We have found out that by misstak a product not qualified for a certain
marked has been sold and shipped to it. In order to prevent this from
happening again we are trying to find a way of preventing this in MFG.
Hopefully getting an error message at order entry.

As of now we could exclude that product from the customers pricelist, but we
have a hope of taking into use the best pricing functionality and then I
belive that possiblity will be lost.

Can you think of a way allowing us to say which customers cannot buy that
and that product?

Hi again!!

Lets say we have 10 customers who will use price list X, and we want to
prevent one of those customers from buying the specific product. I am not
able to see that these 10 customers can share the same price list.

Isn't it so that if a partno is not included on the price list, all of the
customers "using" that price list will also be looked out?

Aina --

We approached a similar situation as follows. Our client had a situation
where they wanted to be sure that a certain product was sold only to certain
customers.

First, we created special entries for "dummy" fields in Generalized Codes
for the product and customers concerned.

Then we created an ASSIGN trigger for sod_part. The trigger compared the
part entered against the product (list) in Generalized Codes. If there was
a match, it then compared the customer against the other list. If there was
no match, the trigger returned the error condition with a message and the
user could not continue with that part number.
