performance issue with the webspeed reports

We are facing some performance issue on the WebSpeed Reports. I will be helpful if you seed some information from your expertise...

User is requesting the information (which return's some 1500-4500 rows)

It behaves very strangely like
Some time same report comes with in 6sec
When i try the same report it takes me more 5mins and there is a error along the result saying
CGI Timeout.

All the rows are retrieved on a single request to WebSpeed in the UNIX from the IE Client. (is there any limitations on no of concurrent user’s & no of rows retrieved by the user?)

Some times we are getting a message saying the agents are busy.

Last time i remember when we got the error saying that the user is not able to access the web reports.
so we found that the agent is busy not released automatically. we restart the transaction server daemon.

After this event 3days latter the user's started saying we are having performance issue on the reports. There reports were working fine for a long time without any modification.

Now Current setup is something like

The WebSpeed Messenger is running on IIS under w2k server.
and the remaining are runing under the Sun Solaris Box.

How do i find out how many broker/agents were licenced to us.

Version Information:
The Progress version 9.1A patch 08.
The Webspeed version 3.1A patch 05.

No of Brokers: 3 (wSspn, spnExter, spnInter)
No of Agents: 2 Agent attached to each broker.

my obervation while monitoring NS2.ns.log: is keep on adding the line when agent become busy and we get the cgi timeout error.

Hi Raj,

Well, I'm here to verify your architecture.

My question is :
Do you have a webspeed server-firewall server- public network - html server - public network - chain ? or :
webspeed server - html server - public network chain ?

Whatever, Progress prohibes firewalls or too much distant networks between the webspeed server and the html server. Why ? Because of viruses, the use of the UDP protocol that is very quick, but not secure in data like TCP/IP.

Well, before accusing network service, inform yourself on the network of your society to see if it needs to be re-ingeenered.
The most proximity exists between the webspeed server and the html server, the best quality of service you'll get on your screen. But what is true on maybe your under-network will be wrong outside it.
