The cdrom is not mounted noexec. Any ideas?

The simplest thing to do is to copy the contents of the cd to another directory and install from there.

Are you installing linux binaries on a matching linux system? You aren't, for instance, trying to install 64 bit binaries on a 32 bit system? Or vice versa?

What does

$ file _ovrly

say?

this could be a problem. but i thought EM64T systems could run 32 bit binaries without a hitch. i will put a 32 bit distro on and advise.
