ODBC connection problem

Hi all,

I have created a ODBC to my progress DB, but it failed when i test the connection.

but i can connect successfully if i change my client machine(windows xp) regional setting to be same as the PROGRESS Database server(linux), which in to Chinese(Taiwan).

is it i cant connect to the PROGRESS DB server if the regional setting for server and client is different?

I dont think there should be any problem to do with the regional settings.
As for my case, I am running my clients on Windows XP Japanese version (Shift-Jis) and DB Server on RH Linux 5 with language set to en_GB.UTF-8 though......
Is your userID and password used for connection language independent?? Or Dependent?

as for my case, i can just connect without a problem if i change the Regional and Language to Chinese(Taiwan), i do not make any changes to the ODBC connection. and if i change back to English, i failed to connect to it.

Additional info: i actually do not need to provide the correct userID and password to the ODBC connection, as long as these 2 fields are not empty, then i can conect to it. i do not know why it behave like this, it is very not secure.
