I am preparing for an interview and need to know the answers for the below questions from the experts.

  1. What is the architecture of progress RDBMS?
  2. What are the advantages & disadvantages of defining indexes? To overcome the disadvantages , what should be done?
  3. what is multiple index and word index when they can used?
Thanks in advance !!!!

To add:

  • What exactly is it that you want to know about the database architecture? Architecture is a very generic term and may have different meanings for different points of view.
  • Indexing is a basic concept of relational databases. If you don't know what indexes are for or you deliberately don't want to use them you don't understand the concept of a relational database (RDBMS) - if that's the case then this is not the right forum to get an answer. Instead you should discuss this in a generic IT training, school, university ...
  • Don't know what the term multiple indexes mean to you: Do you mean more than one index per table or an index that contains multiple fields? The word index is a Progress special feature which allows database fields of type character to be full-text searched.
