Need a more intuitive global search function

When searching all objects using global search in the top right corner of the page, it would be very helpful to break out the search results by object type into their own grids. Doing so would then use the default search results view for that object so more relevant fields for that object could be displayed instead of the generic object type, name, relevance %, updated by, and updated at fields. Then if a user did not find what they were searching for or found too many results, they could simply sort the results or use the resulting object's view filter logic to further filter down results. Today our users typically select the object and they enter criteria so they can limit results and can display more relevant columns for that object in the search results view.
