Labor Entry after Job Closed

Greetings Symixers!

Can anyone answer one of two questions:

Using SyteLine 3.5b01a

1) Is there anyway to re-open a job in syteline once it has been closed in
order to post labour that has either been missed during production, or to
account for re-work etc?

or

2) What is involved in posting labour directly to the [jobtran] file? Do
any other files need to be updated? Will Syteline take any notice of the
new postings?

TIA

To re-open the job, simply change the status to "R"eleased and "uncheck" the
"Complete?" option in the operation to which you want the time/quantities
applied .

You can populate the jobtran directly, since it will be processed against
other files when you perform the activity "Job Transaction Posting".

Tom:

1) You can simply "un-complete" a job to get it active again, assuming that
some of the completed items are on hand somewhere. Use the same method you
would to complete a job, just complete a negative number of items in
unposted job transactions and post. If the job status is complete, you may
have to change it back to released.

2) We do load data directly into Symix, but not through the JOBTRAN table.
It's safer and you get extra error checking by making Symix think that
you're using shop floor data collection. We load records into the DCSFC
table. You have to do 2 postings to get the transactions done completely,
but we haven't had any problems with this method. Contact me directly if
you would like to see the procedures we use to do this.

Also,
Keep in mind that if you are posting transactions to a job in a previous
accounting period, you may be affecting the WIP and inventory values in your
financial statements.
