Role Purpose
Using their knowledge of current and future applications needs,
expertise with applications development standards and requirements,
and understanding of PSC products, (Progress and Sonic), to provide
expert guidance and mentoring to customers in defining options in
modernization of application architecture and functionality.
The architect will design applications based on the Progress recommended
architectures for Web, Multi-tier client server through Progress AppServer,
Integration with Web Services and/or Sonic ESB and .NET .
Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor a modernization project with customers. Mentor
customer participants through analysis, design, and building of
their application including specification documentation and source
code restructuring.
* Provide expert knowledge on application architectures and use of
PSC products in internal or external projects.
* Audit and monitor the progress of a project team in developing a
chosen solution and ensure that they deliver according to the
customer strategy and agreed upon standards.
* Assess, audit, analyze and document existing applications in the
following areas: Source code, Data Model, (User) Interfaces,
architecture and structure, domain functionality.
* Perform application solution assessments - validate and assess
technology & architecture requirements against business
requirements, assess current technical capabilities of project
team personnel up to level of technical architect and recommend
education training plan.
* Create and maintain as needed mentoring material.
* Maintain knowledge and skill on PSC products. At least generalist
on all product architectures with at least 2 areas of level 4
expertise as mentioned in the "Role Purpose" above.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
* The job requires international travel (50%).
Qualifications
* 7+ years of Application Development experience or equivalent
* 4+ years of using PSC products
* 7+ years of Application Architecture design experience
* 5+ years of Application Development and Architecture consulting
experience
* Senior level expectations and priority management
* Able to self manage and technically lead project team in
conjunction with Project Manager
* Demonstrated skills in communication, judgment, negotiation
* Able to professionally communicate technical ideas and concepts
clearly, verbally and written, to technical and non technical
audiences, can present and articulate technical vision to CxO
level in both written and verbal form
* Good use of Project Management practices and skills
* Navigate cross functional and cross regional organizations
as required
* First or second language should be English but to a high level
of verbal fluency, other European languages are an advantage
* 6-8 years overall experience

* Inter cultural sensitivity - able to work with employees of
multiple nationalities
* Perform consistently well whilst working under a degree of stress
