Is Progress supported on Sun Solaris x86?

We are using Progress 8.3c to 10.1B03 versions on Solaris 5.10 SPARC. We would like to move few Progress archive databases across all versions to Sun Solaris x86. Is it supported? Thanks for your replies.

No, Progress does not support the x86 flavor of Sun Solaris. As far as I know they don't have any plans to. In our company everybody is migrating off of SPARC to x86 - except ... you know who.

You either need to stay on SPARC or migrate to one of the supported Linux flavors to make use of the cheaper x86 hardware.

Here you can find the product availability guide:

Yes, they do. You wouldn't believe how much. In our corporation we're talking about 3000+ decentral boxes where only some 15 boxes run Progress databases. Half of them ( round about 1500+ ) have already been exchanged ( here they say migrated because it might fool you into believing that that does not mean that you have to buy a new box ... ). Plus, there is a big bonus: Our Unix engineering decided that there are only two: Two files systems you can choose of: ZFS or the Oracle database file system. It's like having to choose between the lesser of two evils ...

Well, all this large scale decision are well beyond may pay grade ...

Needless to say how the Powers That Be in our corporation fall for Oracle sales pitches, and those of IBM too considering the strange licensing we utilize for our centralized z/OS DB2 environment. Lucky me I have nothing to do with that other than consume web services ...

Did I mention that I work for a bank?
